Marine and Engineering students of Ocean University can receive practical training on President’s instructions
Practical training is to be imparted at the behest of the President to students who had completed the Marine and Engineering Course of the Ocean University.
President Rajapaksa handed over certificates at Temple Trees to the first group of students who are receiving practical training. This training is being imparted to students who had successfully completed the Marine and Engineering Course at the Ocean University. Several Shipping Companies have already expressed willingness to provide this training. 50 students are to be given this training annually. 25 of the students will be provided jobs by the respective institutions.
An expenditure of 70 million rupees will be incurred for a year for training. The related institutions will be handling this task as a social service programme. The Marine University is a concept of the President while he was serving as the Fisheries Minister. Ministers Bandula Gunawardene and Dulles Alahapperuma, the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Ocean University Prof. Ranjith Senaratne were present on the occasion.
