The Maha Sangha showers blessings on the President for the New Year. The unveiling of the pinnacle of the Chaithya of the historic Henkaduwa Raja Maha Vihare took place under the patronage of the President.
Members of the Maha Sangha of the Hambantota District showered their blessings on President Rajapaksa for the New Year. Members of the Maha Sangha including the Chief Incumbent of the Mulagiri Raja Maha Vihare in Tangalla the Ven. Mirisse Dhammawansa Thera, Chief Incumbent of the Kasagala Raja Maha Vihare the Ven. Thalammahara Indasiri Sumana Thera, and the District Registrar the Ven. Ittademaliye Pagnananda Thera visited the Carlton House in Tangalle this morning chanted Seth Pirith and blessed the President.
In the meantime, the President also joined in the unveiling of the Pinnacle of the Chaithya of the historic Henkaduwa Raja Maha Vihare. A series of Pinkamas was held under the guidance of its Chief Incumbent and Chief Sanghanayake of the Ruhuna Magampattuwa the Ven. Weeraketiye Nalaka Thera to invoke blessings on the President and the country. Thereafter the President participawted in the offering of alms to 50 Buddhist monks.
