The fight against poaching is going hi-tech in Nepal. Wildlife officials are using remote-controlled drones to give them a bird’s eye view of any possible illegal activities. When it comes to tracking poachers, this piece of equipment gives wildlife teams a sky-high advantage. Remotely-controlled from the ground, this drone fitted with onboard camera is able to give a view beyond the reach of traditional foot patrols. The technology enables the ranger teams to monitor inaccessible areas, as they battle to curb illegal hunting of wild animals in the Himalayan nation. A drone is being used here in Chitwan National Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Chitwan District, south of the capital Katmandu. It’s home to the country’s flagship but endangered Bengal tigers and rhinos.
