President Rajapaksa has said that the message that the country will not be betrayed to foreigners will be given by the entire nation on the 29th of this month. He declared that those who are unable to win the hearts of the people through politics were attempting to achieve political mileage carrying tales to the world.
President Rajapaksa said that the entire nation loving the country had already gathered round the Government. The President was addressing a victorious rally organized at the Vernon Fernando grounds in Kalutara this afternoon. It was held to consolidate the victory of the United People’s Freedom Alliance at the Provincial Council polls.
The President received a tumultuous welcome from the people when he arrived in the Kalutara District to consolidate the victory of the Freedom Alliance at the Provincial polls. They warmly greeted the President displaying his photographs, banners with greetings and also waving the national flag.
Thereafter the public meeting commenced. Addressing the gathering the President underscored that the whole nation should join hands in defeating local as well as foreign conspiracies betraying the country as well as the nation.
The President said that the people have focused their attention on this poll and the world is also monitoring it. Those who will or will not be voting in favour of the Geneva Resolution co-sponsored by the United States and Britain are also monitoring the views of the Sri Lankans. The President stressed that they did not wage war against the Tamil community. They clearly battled against terrorism. The TNA appeared on behalf of terrorism in Parliament at that time. Some MPs were candidates who were put forward by Prabhakaran. Discussions were held with them knowing about these facts. Those who cannot win the hearts of the people and knowing that they cannot form a Government, are carrying tales to the international community hoping that they would hand over the power of the country to them. The President said that they believed that the people would give the mandate sending a clear message to the world that they cannot interfere in the affairs of the country.
