Sri Lanka thrashed minnows Netherlands by nine wickets for a record breaking victory in a Group 1 match of the ICC World T20 here at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chittagong yesterday. After inviting Netherlands to bat first, Sri Lankans ripped through their hapless opponents ruthlessly within a mere 10.3 overs for record low total of 39. Angelo Mathews who opened bowling from one end, captured three wickets while spinner Ajantha Mendis also grabbed three as the Dutch surrendered without a fight to what was the lowest ever total posted by an international team in T20 cricket’s short history. Sri Lanka knocked off the runs in five overs for the loss of only one wicket to complete a nine-wicket victory.
