Mahela Jayawardena has officially tendered his resignation to the Sri Lanka Cricket, announcing his retirement from playing International Twenty20 cricket. The SLC stated that Mahela submitted his letter of resignation to its Chief Executive, Ashley de Silva.
Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene were given a great send-off as Sri Lanka beat India by six wickets in the 2014 ICC World Twenty20 tournament final at Mirpur. The classy batsman announced that he will retire from international T20 cricket after the world cup in Bangladesh.
