They appraised the country about the real meaning of freedom and enthroned peace in the motherland. But there is one side of the life of the eternal heroes which no one has seen. There is also a group of heroic soldiers bearing the pain for their entire life as a result of the cruelty of the cursed war, while the entire country is reaping the benefits of the victory in the war. The Independent Television Network, the Family Channel of the country embarked on a journey in search of Abhimansala, which affords the glory of life of the eternal heroes of the era who have been rendered disabled by bringing real freedom to the entire country which was to be sunk in darkness. These heroic soldiers are bearing the repercussions of the cursed war as they had been rendered totally disabled. Their future would have been bleak if not for the launch of “Abhimalsala” – the Wellness Resort – a noble concept of Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
The first such Wellness Resort was built in Anuradhapura. The second such Resort was put up at Kamburupitiya in Matara. The third Wellness Resort which will also be providing lodging to the disabled soldiers will be declared open at Paangolla in Kurunegala tomorrow. Abimansala 3, is well-equipped with all therapeutic needs for dependent war heroes is to be manned 24 hours with medical facilities on hand. A mini hospital, physiotherapy unit, swimming pool, gymnasium, Ayurvedic centre, hydrotherapy unit, recreation centre, entertainment arena and facilities for family members including short-term visits, are among the major features in this complex. The war is now over. Victory has already been achieved. Those in the forces will look after their lives as they receive a salary. But the differently-abled soldiers have no work. Removing them from the forces after compensating would be suitable. This was the situation that prevailed during post conflict periods in countries which were embroiled in war. But the Commander in Chief President Rajapaksa and the Secretary of Defence Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, after a war which plagued the country for 30 years, have given a fitting lesson to the entire world. It is the lesson that heroism of the heroes who brought freedom to the country, is eternal. The world has been provided the lesson of imparting light to the lives of the differently abled soldiers, safeguarding them by expending a colossal amount of money. There is a place for those who are making baseless war crimes allegations against the country to step into and have a glimpse of it. It is “Abhimansala”, the Wellness Resort.
