The visiting Vietnamese Public Security Minister meets the President and invites the President to undertake another visit to his country.
Visiting Vietnamese Minister Prof. Gen. Tran Dai Quang and his delegation met President Rajapaksa at Temple Trees yesterday. The aim of the visit of the Vietnamese Minister is to further improve bilateral cooperation in fields such as public security and law and order. Warmly welcoming the Vietnamese delegation, President Rajapaksa expressed his gratitude to Vietnam for supporting Sri Lanka at the UN Human Rights session in Geneva.
The President recalled how the Government and people of Sri Lanka and he himself, since his student days, supported the heroic struggle of the Vietnamese people against foreign domination.
Prof. Gen Tran Dai Quang, while appreciating Sri Lanka’s support for his country said that long-standing traditional friendship between the two nations should be further strengthened not only for the benefit of their people but also to ensure long-lasting peace, development and security in the region.
