President intervenes to stop Wilpattu deforestation
President Maithripala Sirisena has intervened to stop the clearing of Wilpattu forest. It is learnt that
until an investigation is carried out no further felling and clearing the forest should take place.In this connection he has ordered the secretary of the environmental authority has been entrusted with this task of making a discreet inquiry. A report in this connection has to be furnished to the President. It is also reported that a group of JVP Members had visited the Wilpattu forest.
