President’s PSD unit squashed
The Army media spokesman Brigadier Jayanath Jayaweera had
said the president’s security division named PSD has been dissolved with effect from the 30th April.The closest reason for this action had been as a Corporal attached the president’s PSD unit had been found with fire arm when President Maithripala Sirisena had gone to address a meeting of the SLFP’s at Angunukolapelessa.The Corporal had been standing at an awkward position close to the President.
The unit had been established in the year 2008 for the President’s security purposes. It is learnt that another similar unit will be established with a different set of army officers.
