Lorry with illicit cattle fled without stopping orders shot at by police - one killed
A lorry transporting a load of illicit cattle in
Ampara,Arantalawa area had been shot at by the police as it had fled without stopping at two police check points early this morning the 23rd instant.When the police commenced shooting one of the persons in the lorry had died of gunshot injuries. The rest had kept him aside, untied the cattle into a jungle nearby and had also fled escaping from the police personnel.
At the check point after shooting the lorry had travelled without stopping but had travelled another 10 kilometres along the Aranthalawa road and had abandoned the lorry in a by lane.
