Mahinda has not been given a helicopter
The former President’s media unit has confirmed that for the security of the former president
Mahinda Rajapaksa a security unit of 213 personnel with Army and Police officers have been provided. However the media unit has disclosed that the facilities give to them are barely sufficient.Accordingly this unit comprises of two senior army officers and 108 army personnel and three Assistant Superintendents of Police and 105 police 105 personnel are provided was added by the former president’s media unit.
It is also reported by the former president’s media unit that 17 vehicles and official mobile phones used by the police personnel had been withdrawn by the Police department. Hence vehicles to be used have been obtained on rental terms.
They had also added that a helicopter has not been provided for the travelling convenience of the former president.
It has also been confirmed by the former president’s unit that no transport facilities have been provided for the army personnel in the unit. It has been confirmed that no vehicle or a motor cycle has been provided for their transport by the government.
