FINALLY, PABA IN .... KAMAL & RUWANTHI OUT
The rumours that circulated in the past about actors and
actresses who were coming forward for the General Election this time were subjected to some changes today when nominations were finalised.The decision arrived at formerly not to include Upeksha Swarnamali for Gampaha District was changed at the last moment when the issue of women's representation was taken into consideration which had to be settled. That committee had decided to give nominations to 4 people including Dr. Sudarshani Fernandopulle. As such, Upeksha Swarnamali has got the opportunity of entering the fray for the general election this time by representing Gampaha District.
Kamal Addaraarachchi who even held a news conference sometime back saying that he would contest from Gampaha or Ratnapura said towards the last days that he will contest from Ratnapura. But according to changes effected by the nominations committee they had notified that it would not be possible to grant him nominations. Therefore Kamal will not be able to come forward for the elections this time. In the process tele-actress Ruwanthi Mangala, wife of Namal Udugama who came forward from Colombo District too has been deprived of contesting for the elections.
