RANILS’S STATEMENT ON DEW’S COPE REPORT
It is reported that Ranil Wickremasinghe has made a special statement at Sirikotha as promised earlier. In his statement it was said that the related statement made by the former parliamentarian and the chairman of COPE committee D E W Gunasekara was done to gain political benefits.
The former parliamentarian D E W Gunasekara had stated there that he presented the facts after investigating regarding the proposal of breaching trust signed by 88 Members of parliament against the governor of Central Bank Arjun Mahendran. He has further stated that he was deprived of the opportunity to present it as the parliament was dissolved suddenly.
D E W Gunasekara has further stated that it was published in news papers that the Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe had mentioned in public meeting is ready to present to the COPE committee report if he is summoned. But, according to D E W Gunasekara what he should have done was to meet him and discuss without making public statements.
he media conference today, the Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe has stated that the former parliamentarian D E W Gunasekara has no right to do such statements after dissolving the parliament.
He further challenged that he will not disturb to discuss this in the parliament in next turn and if it is required to present facts before that he can participate in a debate with deputy minister Sujeewa Senasinghe in any television channel.
