Somawansa Amerasinghe in the lurch neither here nor there ,will not contest
The former leader of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna Somawansa Amerasinghe who left the JVP leadership as he was frustrated in the
activities of the members of the party. He with a few others formed a new part called the "Janatha Sevaka Party" .Before long after he had joined with the Ven.Athureliye Rathana Thero and Champika Ranawaka with the new party they had formed and had intentions of contesting the forthcoming general elections under the 'diamond' symbol of their party from Kalutara district.However with the latest developments the National united Yahapalana party, the former JHU had decided to join with the UNP to contest as a joint good governance alliance in the forthcoming Parliamentary general election the former leader of the JVP having formed his new party was left in the lurch neither here nor there. Hence it has now been confirmed that he would not contest in the forthcoming general election as he cannot obtain nominations from any party.
