The 17 year old student and the father of one, suspects in Seya Sadewmi's rape and murder to undergo medical tests to ascertain allegations of police assaults
After the rape and murder of the 5 year old Seya Sadewmi of Kotadeniyawa, the Kotadeniyawa police had taken into custody a 17 year old student and a father of one child as suspects. After in remand custody of the police custody the two had been produced to the Minuwangoda Chief
Magistrate's courts. The Magistrate had ordered them to be remanded.
The lawyers of the two accused had made an allegation to the Chief Magistrate of Minuwangoda Magistrate's courts on the 28th ultimo that they had been assaulted while in police custody. In this regard the Minuwangoda Magistrate has given instructions to the prisons to produce them before the Judiciary medical officer of the Minuwangoda hospital M.N Rahul Haq to conduct medical investigations on them on the 30th September.
The DNA examinations were conducted in regard to the on going investigations and the reports under sealed covers had been handed over to the Magistrate courts on the 30th September and these would be presented at the next hearing of the case scheduled for the 2nd of October at the Minuwangoda Chief Magistrate's courts.
