Minister S.B. Dissanayake has emphasized that no one has the authority to talk in Parliament about dead terrorists as heroes or commemorating them. Responding to the Tamil National Alliance in Parliament, the Minister said that queries should be made from those are attempting to inject life to the terrorists as to who transgressed human rights.

The Minister said that all leaders of the TULF, EPDP, TELO and EPRLF were killed by Prabhakaran, who TNA Parliamentarian Sridharan is describing as a hero of the freedom struggle. He also describing the LTTE leader who assassinated leaders such as Amirthalingam and Sabharatnam. The TNA is not talking about de-mining and describes the resettlement as a sham.

The Minister said that he too visits Kilinochchi and families have resettled in these areas. He queried as to who removed the roofs of the houses. It was Prabhakaran who did so. It was Prabhakaran who told the civilians to remove their roofs and follow him. The Minister queried from Parliamentarian Sridharan as to the number of ex-combatants released. They have been granted a pardon while some have been rehabilitated and released from custody.

A high number has been released and re-integrated into society. The Minister revealed this figure as 16,000. The Northern civilians should first query from the MP who is attempting to commemorate Prabhakaran as to where their children are.

United National Party Parliamentarian Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said that he too wished to raise objections to the statement made by the TNA MP. He said that all are Sri Lankans and everyone should think as one nation. They are not prepared to protect murderous outfits.

Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara pointed out that no government in any country would permit the request made by the TNA MP to glorify an armed terrorist group. Parents had the right to grieve over the death of their children. But the Minister told the TNA MP that no Government can permit it, if he was attempting to revive the terrorist outfit under this guise.
