Minister Maithripala Sirisena has emphasized that stern disciplinary action will be initiated against Sri Lanka Freedom Party members of Local Councils who engage themselves in unwarranted activities.

The Minister said that members who are initiating action to defeat the budgets of the Freedom Alliance governed Local Bodies lack a political vision. They do not heed the advice of the party. As the SLFP General Secretary, he mentioned that he personally sent letters to over 3000 members that they should contribute to passing the 2014 budgets of their Local Councils. But budget defeats at Some Councils are taking place without heeding this advice, purely on the basis of security high positions.

If these members do not adhere to the advice given by the President as the leader of the Party, a decision was taken to initiate disciplinary action against members who contributed to the defeat of budgets in government ruled Local Bodies and expel them from their positions. If not, the Minister added that a party cannot progress.

The Minister was addressing a function organized to open a State Osu Sala in the Bandaragama area on a proposal mooted by the Western Provincial Councillor Lalith Ellawala. The Western Provincial Council had granted seven million rupees for the Osu Sala. Minister Kumara Welgama, Western Province Minister Jagath Angage and the Chief SLFP Organizer of Bandaragama Janaka Bandara were present on the occasion.
