The treatment services in the Anuradhapura District where the highest number of kidney patients have been reported, are being expanded. All operations in respect of kidney transplants carried out at the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital have been successful.
Since the highest number of kidney patients is reported from the NorthCentralProvince, optimum facilities have been provided to provide treatment to kidney patients within hospitals in the region. Doctors claim that all kidney transplants that had taken place in the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital had been successful. 17 operations in respect of kidney transplants had already been successfully carried out. It is planned to undertake kidney transplants of 100 patients next year.
A special meeting was held at the Anuradhapura teaching Hospital with the intention of securing the maximum assistance of the staff members. A special Forum was launched for this purpose. Patients who underwent kidney transplants and relatives who donated organs were also present at this meeting.
