As a proud nation the war has been won – Future challenges will also be surmounted – President

President has emphatically mentioned that as the Government triumphed in the war it will surmount the future challenges.

The President laid this emphasis at the granting of housing entitlements of the third stage of the houses built by the Seva Vanitha Unit of the Civil Defence Department. The ceremony ws held at the Museaus College auditorium in Colombo. Keys were symbolically handed over to 250 house recipients. Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa handed over cash cheques under the Suva Saviya programme at this event.

The President lauded services discharged by the Security sectors in winning the war. He underscored that it was the onus of everyone to continue to these services sans any hesitation on behalf of the country.

The President said he believes that the Government has succeeded in passing on the benefits of halting war to the nation.

The President queried from those present on the occasion whether they arrived for the event on roads which prevailed five years ago or bridges and towns that prevailed five years ago. All these have changed. The country has completely changes.

The President pointed that it was today that he came to know that the Opposition Leader’s office complex was also being built by members of the Civil Defence Department. This is the best response to those who make queries whether the war has ended.

Ananda Soysa and Soma Rajapaksa made cash contributions for the Seva Vanitha Housing Project of the Civil Defence Department. Director General of the Civil Defence Department Rear Admiral Ananda Peiris also graced the occasion.
