Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has said that all towns in the island will be developed into people’s friendly centres to build a positive mentality in all visiting the towns. He assured that all towns will be developed akin to Colombo.
The Defence Secretary said that a majority in Kurunegala was using public transport. Even a majority in the City of Colombo use the bus and the train to reach the city. To make a people’s friendly town, the bus stands should be developed and pavements should be put to facilitate them.
The Defence Secretary was addressing a function held in Kurunegala on behalf of the presentation of the Kurunegala Urban Development Plan. Many constructions within the Kurunegala City commenced under his auspices. Minister Jayaratne Herath, Northwestern Chief Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara were among those present on the occasion.
