Dengue is likely to rise to epidemic level. The Health Ministry has warned the public not to use any pain killers other than paracetamol in case of fever experienced for more than two days.
The Health Ministry has emphasized that dengue is likely to rise again to epidemic level. There is a danger of the spread of the disease in areas such as Dehiwala, Kohuwala, Kaduwela, Kolonnawa, Angoda, Moratuwa and Katubedda areas. The Health Ministry has already issued instructions to launch a special operation tomorrow to inspect mosquito breeding grounds within premises of all schools and public institution in the MOH Divisions in these areas.
A majority of reported dengue cases are school children while many adults have also contracted the disease. Health reports have already confirmed that the use of pain killers has complicated the disease. It has called upon the public to refrain from taking drugs other than those prescribed by doctors.

These details surfaced at the Colombo District Dengue Review meeting held at the Health Ministry under the patronage of Health Services Director General Dr. Palitha Mahipala.
