The Grade Five Scholarship Examination will not be scrapped. This was revealed by Minister Keheliya Rambukwella at the weekly Cabinet news briefing today.
The Minister said that as a policy the Government has decided to continue with the Grade Five Scholarship. In parallel the examination should be simplified and the pressure eased. A vast development should take place in education for this purpose. He said that education is a long term programme. A pressure is building with the difficulty in gaining admission to popular schools. The solution should be to provide more facilities available in popular schools to other schools. This is already taking place under the Mahinda Chinthana. No one can deny it.
