The Sri Lanka Navy has recovered 75 kilogrammes of explosives used to illegally engage in the fishing industry.
Naval troops attached to the SLNS Thambapanni of the North Western Naval Command on information received arrested two persons with a haul of explosives devices. It included 510 sticks of gelignite stick weighing 75 kilogrammes in the general area Pramakandagama in Aanamaduwa yesterday. 424 non electric detonators and six safety fuses were among the other items recovered.
The explosives intended to be sold for illegal fishing, had been hidden in a temporary shed behind the residence of the main suspect. The arrested persons and the items were handed over to the Aanamaduwa Police for further investigations.
