The President who left the island today on a one-day official visit for the United Arab Emirates reaches Abu Dhabi.
President Rajapaksa left this afternoon on a one-day visit for Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates.
On arrival in Abu Dhabi, President Rajapaksa was warmly welcomed by the Chairman of the Department for Municipal Affairs, Majjed Ali Al Mansoor and Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Dr. Mahinda Balasuriya.
One of the main events on the President’s agenda was to attend the Zayed Future Energy Prize Awards Ceremony, taking place this evening. According to the Prize website, the annual award celebrates achievements that reflect impact, innovation, long-term vision and leadership in renewable energy and sustainability.
Among the finalists for this year’s award include multinational companies such as General Electric and Walmart, among others.
During the visit, President Rajapaksa is also scheduled to hold several bilateral meetings with officials in the country and meet with the Sri Lankan community living in the emirate.
