1.9 million visit Deyata Kirula in seven days

Today is the seventh day of the Deyata Kirula National Development Exhibition which is in progress in Kuliyapitiya. The Exhibition was declared open last Friday.


Massive crowds descended on the Exhibition grounds today as it was a public holiday. The Exhibition is being held centering on the Kuliyapitiya Central College, the Wayamba University and the Technical College. The Exhibition grounds spans 160 acres. Today is the Media Day at the Exhibition.


A significant occasion today was the visit of the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. The Defence Secretary launched the Automated Finger Printing system which is aimed at identifying criminals. Thereafter the Defence Secretary joined in visiting the Exhibition booths. A special news briefing was held at the location this afternoon. Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said that more than one million 930 thousand had visited the Exhibition by last night.


There was a special visitor to the ITN Stall today. He was Dayasiri Jayasekara, the Northwestern Chief Minister. He was joined by Sudharman Radaliyagoda, the Deputy General Manager of News and Current Affairs.
