Elders are responsible to direct children towards the correct path – President

The President has pointed out that the responsibility of the parents should be to direct more attention on the children guiding them towards the correct path.


President Rajapaksa emphasized that a generation with proper awareness of society which loves the country can be groomed by providing a proper education. He said it is the obligation of the parents to draw their attention towards their children. The President was speaking at a function held at the Sri Saddhananda Vidyalaya at Helambawatana in Chilaw. It was organized to mark the opening of the Mahindodaya Technological Laboratory.


The school was provided with the Laboratory under the programme of developing 1000 primary schools, parallel to the Deyata Kirula National Development Exhibition. It includes a fully-fledged Laboratory, a Mathematics Laboratory and a Language Laboratory as well as a Distance Education Unit.


Speaking further after the opening of the Laboratory, the President said that he was very happy to visit the school for the opening of the Laboratory. The children should make optimum use of it for their betterment. What they expect from the children is to study well, be good children productive to society. The God will bless good children. Massive development is taking place in the area. Development is taking place not only in schools. Improvements are taking place in health, while roads are also being developed. The President called on the children to join handS with them and make a vital contribution to the development of the country.


Minister Bandula Gunawardena, Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, Neomal Perera and Piyankara Jayaratne, Parliamentarians A.H.M. Azwer and Arundika Fernando, Northwestern Governor Tissa Balalla and Chief Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara were among those present on the occasion.
