The Indian Central Government has reiterated that the decision taken by the Tamil Nadu Government to free the killers of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi based on elections, politics and compassion is unreasonable.

Indian Central Government Minister G.K. Vasan has pointed out that the decision taken by the Tamil Nadu Government to release the seven convicts of the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case is against the opinion of the people. The Tamil Nadu Government has been called upon to reconsider this decision.

Pointing out that the release of the Rajiv Gandhi killers in this manner is a threat to India’s national Security, the Minister emphasized that the Indians will never endorse it. Noting that the people would properly respond to this incorrect decision taken by Tamil Nadu at future polls, Mr. J.K. Vasan said all Congress party supporters should array themselves against the arbitrary decision taken by the Tamil Nadu Government.

In the meantime a protest was held at Wallur Kottam against the decision taken to release the Rajiv Gandhi killers and the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalitha Jeyaram.

Tamil Nadu Congress Committee leader Gnanaketheesan addressing the Congress supporters who joined in the protest said that the people would totally reject the Tamil Nadu Government which is engaged in an effort to release the killers.
