An agreement has been signed in respect of construction of the Kalu Ganga Reservoir to provide irrigation and drinking water facilities for the people of the Eastern and North Central Provinces.
The agreement in the presence of Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva was signed at the Mahaweli Authority auditorium by Secretary to the Ministry of Irrigation Ivan de Silva and General Manager of the Sinohydro Corporation Yu Lin Hua.
The Kaluganga Reservoir will be constructed at a cost of 15,000 million rupees and will provide irrigation facilities to 3000 hectares. It is planned to complete the work on the project within five years.
