Borella OIC, Superintendent of Police Prasad Siriwardena who had to unfortunately sacrifice his life in an attempt made to solve a disturbance that erupted at Thunnana, bids farewell to the country/ The President also pays his last respects to the Late OIC.
President Rajapaksa paid his final respects last night to the remains of Mr. Siriwardena which were lying at No: 231 Gonawala in Kelaniya. He thereafter expressed his condolences to family members.
The remains which were lying at the Gonawala residence until 2.00 pm today, were brought to the Borella Police Station amidst the honours of the Police Officers. Large crowds visited the Police Station to pay their last respects. The condolences expressed by the Borella public were also witnessed.
The remains were thereafter brought to the General Cemetery Kanatte at 4.00 p.m. Prasad Siriwardena bade adieu to the nation this afternoon amidst Police honours.
