Add comments

The tiger terrorists made an untiring effort to meet their so called objectives by taking way thousands of lives and destabilizing the country.

These inhumane activities of the tigers which were filled with brutality was brought to an end due to the successful efforts made by the President and the war heroes to wipe out the tiger outfit. If not the country would have been transformed into a battlefield.

On 13th March 1989 the ruthless tiger terrorists killed three war heroes in the Gurugalheenna area and embarked on their murder spree on March 13 throughout the dark era. Again on March 13th in 1991, the terrorists lurking in the Thandikulam area mooted an assault on the war heroes, taking away the lives of four of them.

Salambakulam in Vavuniya was the next target of the tiger terrorists on 13th March. It was in the year 1997. They targeted their attacks on a group of war heroes providing security to civilians. As a result two war heroes were killed.

The cruel terrorists unleashed a bomb attack on war heroes who were plying from Jaffna to Achchuveli on 13th March 1998. Six war heroes made supreme sacrifices on behalf of the country in this incident.

Again on 13th March in the year 2009, the terrorists mooted another assault on the TMVP political party officer in the Sorikalmunai area. The terrorists bumped off four members of this political party in this assault. On the same day the terrorists unleashed several attacks in the Puthukudiyiruppu and Puthukudiyiruppu West areas. 13 war heroes made supreme sacrifices on behalf of the motherland.

Terrorism which scourged the country was annihilated on 18th May 2009. By then these merciless terrorists had taken away 38 lives on 13th March throughout the fear psychosis period. This included five civilians. The other 33 were war heroes.

The members of the Security Forces who advanced in the humanitarian operations following the bold decisions taken by President Rajapaksa succeeded in pulverizing the terrorists and bringing peace to the country. The ending of terrorism in the country by the valiant soldiers was a serious blow to certain local as well as extraneous forces, as the avenues in meeting their parochial aims were totally obstructed. The Sri Lankan forces discharged their operations adhering to the Geneva Conventions and according to international war regulations, while safeguarding human rights to the maximum.

They liberated more than 300 thousand innocent Tamil civilians who were languishing under the jackboot of the murderous tiger leader Prabhakaran, succeeded in providing a fitting lesson to the world. But world powers such as the United States and Britain are attempting to make allegations of human rights violations against a country which had discharged such a major task, mainly because of their hypocrisy.

The people of this country are always prepared with the country’s leader to face any situation, despite the operations mooted by local as well as alien forces. As such the so-called forces should at least now understand that they would not get any opportunity to hinder the state leader or the war heroes. Those who sacrificed their lives on behalf of the unity of the country are countless.

We wish to mention that we do not possess the photographs of all those who sacrificed their lives on behalf of the country. As such we appealed to you to dispatch any photographs you possess. There is a positive response to this call.

It is an obligation of those who survived the era to remember such war heroes. We are requesting you to dispatch photographs of such heroes to us so as to remind the country and the world of their sacrifices.
