The President declares open Mahindodaya Technical Laboratories in several schools in the Southern Province.
President Rajapaksa today vested in the children Mahindodaya Technical Laboratories built in several schools in the Southern Province under the Mahindodaya 1000 schools programme, which is transforming Sri Lanka’s education.
The President initially declared open the Mahindodaya Technical Laboratory at the Richard Pathirana Maha Vidyalaya in Galle. On arrival the students of the School accorded a very warm welcome to the President. The Mahindodaya Technical Laboratory is equipped with a fully-fledged Mathematics Laboratory, a Language Laboratory with 25 computers and a Computer Laboratory with 25 computers as well as a Distance Learning Centre, put up under the supervision of the Education Ministry.
Expressing his views on the occasion, the President emphasized that the freedom gained could only be fully exploited only if the future generation took the correct path.
The President said that Mahindodaya Laboratories were provided to the schools and the technology curriculum has been introduced. Due attention has been given to the future of the children. The need of the hour is to groom children who can win over the world. The benefits of development can be received only by directing the children towards the correct path.
The President thereafter declared open the Mahindodaya Technical Laboratory built at the Sri Sumangalodaya Maha Vidyalaya at Kalahe in Galle. It is also fully equipped with a Mathematics Laboratory, a Language Laboratory and a Computer Laboratory. It also has a Distance Learning Centre. The President undertook an observation tour after its opening. He also made inquiries into the studies of the children.
The President next vested in the students the Mahindodaya Technical Laboratory constructed at the Dorape Maha Vidyalaya. It is also equipped with a fully-fledged Mathematics Laboratory, a Language Laboratory with 25 computers, a Computer Laboratory with 40 computers and a Distance Education Centre.
