The Indian Bharathiya Janatha Party has emphasized that it will never permit the establishment of a Tamil Eelam State.
Chenkiah Naidu, an Indian Bharathiya Janatha Party Leader made this reference, addressing a news briefing held in Chennai. He pointed out that if the establishment of such a State was permitted, it would have a dire impact on India. His view was that the Bharathiya Janatha Party always anticipated Sri Lanka’s unity and territorial integrity.
Chenkiah Nadu underscored that a solution should be found only with a constitutional framework. A majority believe that the Bharathiya Janatha Party would secure a victory at the Indian General Election to be held in May. The MDMK Party of Tamil Nadu which plans to join the Party in its election manifesto had stated that a referendum should be held on the establishment of an Eelam State in Sri Lanka. Rejecting this statement Chenkiah Naidu elaborated that it was not their party’s views and any party had the right to express its stand.
