The President has paid his last respects to the remains of Harispaththuwe Ariyawansalankara Thera who was a prominent Dhamma preacher and an author. President Mahinda Rajapaksa who went to Vipassana Meditation Centre at Buddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo, paid his last respects to the thera. He was 74 years at the time of his death. The remains of Venerable Ariyawansalankara thera were handed over to Yakkala Aurveda University this afternoon, as requested by him. Venerable Ariyawansalankara thera became famous for explaining Buddhist Philosophy in simple language. He took part in many sermons over media and explained the importance of practically following Buddhism to the people.
