The dark memories contains the brutality of the LTTE terrorists whose only aim was to destroy innocent lives. How many more lives could have been destroyed by terrorists if the Commander in Chief and the heroic soldiers did not stop barbaric actions and brutality of the LTTE. On the 23rd March 1987 LTTE terrorists took the lives of five soldiers in Jaffna. On the 23rd March 1991 LTTE terrorists abducted four civilians and killed them in Batticaloa. Two soldiers lost their lives when the terrorists attacked them in Welioya on 23rd March 1992. Terrorists launched a massive attack in Wandaramulla on 23rd March 1996. Forty soldiers sacrificed their lives to the motherland in the attack. Another two soldiers were killed in an attack in Sinnawatta on the same day. On the 23rd March 2007 terrorists ambushed and killed three soldiers in Madaramadhu. Nine soldiers sacrificed their lives to the nation in another attack on the same day in Mannarthampanai. Terrorists launched several attacks on 23rd March 2009 in Pudukudirippu and Rankaduwegama and killed 18 soldiers. The heroic soldiers eradicated brutality of terrorism on the historic day of 18th March 2009 at Nandikadal lagoon. One hundred people including ninety three soldiers and seven civilians had been killed by terrorists on that day. The heroic soldiers were able to achieve peace for the country on the directions of Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa and the brave decisions taken by President Mahinda Rajapaksa despite the pressure brought upon him by various local and foreign elements. Numerous sacrifices were made to achieve peace in the country. Certain local and foreign elements are attempting to create anarchy in the country again by destroying the hard won peace. Those groups who accuse Sri Lanka of human rights violations, never speak about the priority given to the humanity by the soldiers even during the war. It is not because they are unaware about such incidents but because of the animosity they have entertained against Sri Lanka. No one speaks about the human rights violation of the U.S.A or the UK. They are trying to pressurize the Government which protected the right to life of the people by eradicating terrorism. Irrespective of their attempts, the patriotic people will not allow the elements against the country to raise their heads. The people have shown it by their deeds. It was the soldiers who achieved true freedom to the country by ending terrorism. Your response to send the photographs of such soldiers to us is tremendous.
