The President said that his Government would consider only the decisions taken by the people irrespective of the results in Geneva, where certain people see it wrong to eradicate terrorism and develop the country. President Mahinda Rajapaksa mentioned this while addressing the United Peoples Freedom Alliance public rally in Piliyandala. People in the area warmly welcomed the President when he arrived at the venue. The President pointed out that people in the country have faith in the Government and no one can change the peoples’ opinion. The President said that development was misinterpreted. They said that conducting war was wrong. He said that he was replying to those in Geneva. He added that he would only bow their heads to the judgment of the people irrespective of decisions taken in Geneva. He said that he believed that people would clearly give their judgment. He further said that therefore they did not have a problem. Speaking further the President said that the opposition do not have a leadership and no one is there to come forward. He said that they fought among themselves. He pointed out that they could not come before the people and seek foreign assistance to overthrow the Government. He added that this was their priority. There are NGO members who live on the money sent from abroad. President Rajapaksa said that they were sending reports daily against the Government and requested the people to think about the country. Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratna, Senior Minister A.H.M. Fawzi, Ministers Maithripala Sirisena, Dinesh Gunawardena, Bandula Gunawardena, Gamini Lokuge, Patali Champika Ranawaka and Wimal Weerawansa were present on the occasion.
