He says that the country was developed and it was the Government which can provide relief to the people and develop the economy. The President mentioned this while addressing a public rally in Katana. The President said that when elections are taking place here, they are having their elections against the country in Geneva. He said that they say that they would win that election. He added that the Government would prove that it would win the election here. He pointed out that they were not prepared to sign the agreements due to the fear of terrorism. The President recalled that it was not the Government which closed the Mawilaru anicut. He added that they did their duty and said that the people wanted to end the war when he came to power in 2005. He further said that he was able to end the 30 year old war and develop the country. Therefore he said that it was the Government which could reduce the cost of living and ask the people keep faith in him. He said that schools, education, electricity, hospitals and roads were developed by the Government. Therefore he requested the people to be with the Government which can take forward the country on the development path. Another rally of the Alliance was held this afternoon at Katunayake, 18th mile post ground. It was held under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa. It has been organized by Parliamentarian Sudharshini Fernandopulle. A massive crowd including Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne and Parliamentarians were present at the rally.
