The ruthless terrorists took away thousands of lives disturbing civilian life.
If this destructive terrorism which was fast spreading like a pestilence in the motherland was not uprooted by the heroic soldiers under the leadership of the President, the Commander in Chief, no one could estimate the number of murders that the terrorists would have committed.
The tiger terrorists took away the lives of two war heroes on 07th April 1991 in the Valachchenai area in Batticaloa, and thus embarked on their killing spree on 07th April during the dark era. The terrorists unleashed an attack on the innocent civilians in the Aralaganwila area in Polonnaruwa area on 07th April in the year 2000, killing four of them, shocking the entire area.
On the same day, the tiger terrorists mooted two attacks on the Nagarkovil and the Gravelkanda area in Jaffna. 27 war heroes sacrificed their lives on behalf of the country in these assaults. Four civilians died on 07th April 2007, after a bus which was plying from Mannar to Vavuniya was caught up in the claymore mine explosion. Five war heroes were killed in two savage attacks unleashed by the tiger terrorists in the Puthukudiyiruppu and Ambalawan-pokkanai areas on 07th April 2009.
Terrorism which was a bane for the country was subdued on 18th May 2009. By then the terrorists had taken away a total of 51 lives on 07th April throughout the fear psychosis period. Among them were 10 civilians. The other 41 were heroic soldiers.
The members of the Security Forces succeeded in annihilating terrorism following their advancement in the humanitarian operations as a result of the unwavering bold decisions taken by President Rajapaksa as Commander in Chief and the appropriate guidance of Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. All communities are now living in unity and in happiness in the motherland thus liberated from the terrorists.
However, certain extraneous forces as well as local conspirators are drawing up various plans to destroy this peace. But, the patriotic citizens will never permit to destroy the freedom and peace of the motherland. They have proven this not only by words but also by deeds.
