Ruthless terrorism was a bane for the entire country. The war heroes took the initiatives of uprooting it from the country. If not the number of lives that would have been lost is inestimable.
This is another episode of the atrocities committed by the tiger terrorists displaying their brutality to the entire world.
The brutal tiger terrorists targeting civilians in the Horowpathana area in the wee hours of 08th April 1998, mooted a powerful attack, shocking the entire nation. 14 villagers were brutally slaughtered while they were asleep. They did not stop at this point but also barged into the Meegaswewa area and then brutally murdered another 14 innocent villagers.
The tiger terrorists lurking at the Nadukuda Junction on 08th April 1991 launched an attack on a group of war heroes killing nine of them. Two more war heroes were killed in another terrorist attack on 08th April 1995 in the Ilaikadu area. The terrorists killed another two brave soldiers on 08th April 2009 in the Puthukudiyiruppu area.
The last shot on the insurgency which plagued the country for 30 years and took away many lives, was fired at the Nanthikadal Lagoon. By then, the merciless tiger terrorists had taken away 50 lives on 08th April throughout the fear psychosis period. This figure included 28 innocent unarmed civilians. The other 22 were valiant soldiers.
The members of the Security advanced in the humanitarian operations making supreme sacrifices following the bold decisions taken by President Rajapaksa undeterred in the face of pressure exerted from certain local as well as foreign forces. The war heroes engaged in their operations as they were appropriately guided by Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. The members of the Security Forces succeeded in enthroning permanent peace in the country following the many dedications made by them.
The entire nation is now enjoying the fruits of this freedom and they will never permit a destruction of this peace. Some organizations are exerting various pressures under the cover of human rights. They are doing so to fulfill the needs of the Western powers. The patriotic fraternity is already aware of these groups and for a long time have identified how they should be treated. Those who are going against the country are also aware of the fate that will befall them. The people of this country will not hesitate to defeat various forces and conspiracies safeguarding the Head of State as well as the country.
