The ruthless terrorists took away thousands of lives disturbing civilian life.
If this destructive terrorism which was a scourge for the country was not uprooted by the heroic soldiers under the leadership of the President, the Commander in Chief, no one could estimate the number of murders that the terrorists would have committed.
The tiger terrorists killed two war heroes in the Vavuniya area on 09th April 1986 and thus commenced their killing spree on 09th April during the dark era. On 09th April 1991, the terrorists unleashed a powerful attack in the Thoppigala area. As a result nine war heroes sacrificed their lives on behalf of the motherland.
The ruthless terrorists mooted several assaults in the Welioya area on 09th April 1993 and took away the lives of 24 war heroes. Lurking in the Vavuniya area on 09th April 1998, the terrorists unleashed an attack on a group of war heroes and killed two of them.
In the year 2000 also on a day like today the tiger terrorists launched a massive attack on the Army Camp in Elephant Pass. As a result the number of war heroes who made supreme sacrifices on behalf of the country was 15. Again on 09th April 2009, the terrorists mooted several savage attacks on the war heroes in the Puthukudiyiruppu area taking away the lives of seven more brave soldiers.
Terrorism was uprooted from the country on 18th May 2009. By then the motherland had lost 63 war heroes as a result of the brutal attacks mooted by the terrorists on 09th April during the fear psychosis period.
The members of the Security Forces advanced in the humanitarian operations making supreme sacrifices following the bold decisions taken by President Rajapaksa undeterred in the face of pressure exerted from certain local as well as foreign forces. The war heroes engaged in their operations as they were appropriately guided by Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
The members of the Security Forces succeeded in enthroning permanent peace in the country following the many dedications made by them.
The entire nation is now enjoying the fruits of freedom and they will never permit a destruction of this peace.
Some organizations are exerting various pressures under the guise of human rights. They are doing so mainly to meet the aspirations of Western powers. The patriotic fraternity is already aware of these groups and for a long time have identified how they should be treated.
Those who are going against the country are also aware of the fate that will befall them. The people of this country will not hesitate to rout various forces and conspiracies, while protecting the Head of State as well as the country.
