LTTE terrorists destroyed valuable human lives, public property and cast dark shadows over the motherland. The people who experienced the brutality and inhuman terrorism will never forget the barbaric acts of terrorists. How much more destructions could have been caused by the terrorists if the soldiers led by the Commander in Chief did not stop them. LTTE terrorists displaying their brutality to the world took the life of a soldier on the 6th of April 1987 at Nelliady in Jaffna. On the 6th of April 1999, LTTE terrorists ambushed and killed 3 soldiers in Kawattamunai. Five soldiers sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of the country during terrorist attack in Elephant Pass on the 6th of April 2000. A suicide bomb explosion took place in Weliveriya on the 6th of April 2008 destroying many valuable lives. The LTTE terrorists targeted Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle and it killed the minister and ten civilians while injuring many more. Four soldiers were lost to the motherland due to this attack. If the brutality of terrorism was not ended how many more innocent lives would have been lost to the country. 30 people including 10 civilians and 20 soldiers had been killed on the 6th of April, when terrorism was eradicated on the 18th of May 2009, by the heroic soldiers led by the Commander in Chief. The soldiers who marched forward under the brave leadership of President Mahinda Rajapaksa as the Commander in Chief, and on the directions of Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, eradicated the dark shadows of terrorism from the motherland. All communities are living peacefully and happily in the country which was rescued from LTTE terrorism. Local and foreign conspirators are attempting to breach the peace in the country. The patriotic people will never allow the conspirators to destroy the freedom and the peace in the country. They have proved this not by words but by deeds.
