A New Year village giving pride of place to traditional customs has been established in Kilinochchi.
This New Year village has been established centering the Kilinochchi town. It comprises thatches huts, village homes and paddy storage facilities.
The village has been put up by the Kilinochchi Defence Services Headquarters. Its opening took place under the patronage of Northern Governor G.A. Chandrasiri. A New Year festival giving pride of place toseveral traditional sports was held in parallel to the village which has been built with the aim of providing an awareness to the people of the area on the Sinhala and Tamil New Year.
