Terrorism was fast spreading like a pestilence in the island for three decades and no one can forget the carnage and destruction caused to public property by these blood thirsty monsters.

The heroic soldiers who advanced in the humanitarian operation due to the unwavering and bold leadership of President Rajapaksa, who is also the Commander in Chief and the apposite guidance of Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, killed the murderous tiger leader at the Nanthikadal Lagoon in Wellamulliwaikkal and ended the fear psychosis era. If not the country would have become a land of the dead.

Peace now reigns in the country. The entire nation is enjoying the dividends of peace for the past five years.

The present Government headed by the people’s leader has paved the way to make the peace enduring. But it is pathetic to note that certain local as well as extraneous forces are determined to destroy this peace. They are preferring false and unfounded allegations on these war heroes.

It is the grit and bravery displayed by the war heroes who made supreme sacrifices on behalf of the country that are being reminisced in this feature. No one can erase it.

Whatever was said by anyone, the war heroes who safeguarded the country are immortal. It should be underscored that the memories of these war heroes of the era who gave up their lives on behalf of genuine freedom, will continue to be refreshed in this feature also tomorrow.
