India is seeking the extradition of a Sri Lankan arrested in Malaysia for planning to attack Consulates.

Indian authorities have already begun the extradition process of the Sri Lankan national arrested in Malaysia for alleged conspiracy to carry out terror attacks on the US and Israeli consulates in South India. India has approached the France-based international police Interpol to issue a Red Notice on the suspect Mohammad Hossaini, who was arrested by Malaysian police in Kepong near Kuala Lumpur on the 14th of last month.

According to the Indian investigators, Hossaini, a suspected operative of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) was a close aide of Mohammed Sakir Hussain, a 37-year-old Sri Lankan national recruited by the ISI. The Tamil Nadu police arrested Hussain on April 29th.

The Tamil Nadu Police had secured a non-bailable arrest warrant against Hossaini and sent it through the diplomatic channels to Interpol to get a Red Notice issued on him, Press Trust of India reported.

The Tamil Nadu police have asked the Central Bureau of Investigations to start the extradition process of Hossaini. Hossaini has told the Malaysian police that he had received instructions to assist two men in the attacks on the US and Israeli consulates in Chennai and Bangalore.
