Separate Units to examine dengue patients in Colombo

Separate Units have been established in several hospitals for the examination of dengue patients in Colombo.

The Health Ministry said that separate Units have been set up for the examination of dengue patients from today as a high number of dengue patients are being reported in several areas within the Colombo District.


These dengue examination units have been set up at the Colombo National Hospital, the Colombo South Teaching Hospital, the Sri Jayawardena General Hospital, the Homagama Base Hospital and the Angoda Fever Hospital in affiliation to the Outdoor Patients Divisions.

During a discussion presided by the Health Services Director General today, it was emphasized that measures had been taken to provide the necessary facilities and equipment to secure blood test reports from these within ten minutes. Also it was revealed that five special teams have been deployed to fumigate, the examine dengue breeding grounds and clean the environment where the disease is rife.
