How neighbours assaulted 'Grease Gamini' who abducted child (video)
'Grease Gamini' who created a pandemonium in the country by abducting Keshani of Wellawa area was pursued by the police and the villagers day-before-yesterday morning when he was fleeing, riding a push-cycle and was finally caught by them. On this occasion,the villagers
undressed Gamini and had begun to attack him mercilessly and when the police came to intervene it was with the greatest difficulty that they rescued him.
The fact that the villagers had got down to assaulting the suspect under the very nose of the police is a debatable issue. It was the villagers themselves who took steps to set fire to the house where he is supposed to have lived on the previous day.
The reason that people are not punished by law-enforcement agencies or because of the delay in their action may have resulted in this form of behaviour.
