Sashi who got into the ambulance and was bed-ridden yesterday, comes walking fit to prison today!
Sickness supposed to be an ear problem
Remanded once again till 4th
Ex-Minister Wimal Weeravansha's wife who was remanded over a problem relating to an irregular
passport problem was taken to prison hospital from the private hospital on court orders yesterday in a bed-ridden state in an ambulance. A group of women in close proximity to her and suspected to be connected to Wimal had started wailing saying, "what a crime is this .....", the media reported. Sashi who went away in that condition has been subjected to a miracle cure within just one night and came in the prison bus today displaying no illness.
This case was heard today on two occasions and on the first instance the court granted permission for the police to inquire into information pertaining to her bank accounts which totalled upto 19. In the second instance the judge issued orders for her to be remanded until next 4th. Suspicion of courts was aimed yesterday as to whether Wimal's wife was really in a sick state or whether she was pretending to be so. The reason for this was that the judicial medical officer had reported that she was in no way in a sick condition. Because of this reason, a wide dialogue took place within courts as to what her sickness actually was.
Chief Magistrate: What is the ailment with which the suspect is suffering from? The judicial medical officer has reported that she has no sickness. Is there no possibility to remove her from the private hospital?
Prison guards: My Lord ....a doctor of the private hospital has said that an MRI scan examination has to be carried out. That could be done by the National Hospital too.
Chief Magistrate: According to Prison Law it's said that treatment can't be taken from a private hospital ... isn't it? The judicial medical officer too has reported that the suspect is not sick. What is the sickness which he is unable to detect? Treatment could be obtained from the prison hospital for any sickness.
Attorney-at-Law, Wijesiri Ambawatta: Issue orders that treatment be given ... My Lord.
Magistrate: Treatment can be given ... the sickness should be detected. Is it a sickness that can't be revealed?
Attorney-at-Law, Wijesiri Ambawatta: My Lord ... the suspect has an ear problem. She on and off shows a faintish condition.
Magistrate: I can't understand what this sickness that the judicial medical officer also can't diagnose! Isn't there a method where medical advice is given? Even the National Hospital accepts only if there is a sickness!
Ultimately she was instructed to be transferred to prison hospital yesterday in this manner. Today she has come with a healthy disposition as seen in the video BELOW
