Pharmacy-owner illicit husband disappeared
A businesswoman of Hirana area in Panadura was found brutally murdered inside her own
shop yesterday.The husband of the deceased had been serving the Air Force and had died about 16 years before this and the 45 year old deceased (Mannage Don Thushari Wasana Wijeyratna) was a mother of 3 children. The said woman had been having an illicit lliason with a married man who was managing a pharmacy in that area for about a period of 2 years. This connection was well-known to children of both parties. The pharmacy-owner had made it a habit of spending the nights at the deceased's house. The deceased's daughter and the son-in-law too had been living in the house. She and the pharmacy uncle had not turned up at the house as usual the day-before-yesterday (9), and the daughter had telephoned both of them, but to no avail. Subsequently on checking the shop, the body of the murdered woman with cut-injuries on the body was found under the cashier's table. On that occasion the the pharmacy owner had closed up the pharmacy and fled.
The police dog Grero was brought to the scene of the incident for investigation purposes and on the scent it had received from there had gone about a kilometre and stopped near the pharmacy.
The pharmacy owner while being a married man was found to be neglecting his wife and children and was keeping away from home, according to several complaints received by the police.This shop had been opened at his invitation by the deceased and not even a month has passed by since then, it is learned. The police assume that he had murdered her over a financial dispute and had fled after that.
Further investigations are underway regarding the incident.
