On the Vesak full moon day a young married woman 18 years old, had visited a private

On producing the Doctor subsequently to the Mawanella Magistrate courts, the Magistrate had ordered him to be remanded for two days. The Doctor is one Udayananda Jeevandara a resident of Mawanella.

This young 18 year old married woman had come to the private dispensary with her husband at around 7 o clock in the evening to obtain treatment for a stomach ailment. The husband without remaining for his wife’s turn had gone to Mawanella town to obtain a haircut.

In the meantime when her turn arrived she had entered the Doctor’s room in the private dispensary to seek medical advice. There had been no nurse in attendance. The Doctor had seized the opportunity in the absence of her husband to abuse her sexually. The Doctor had stroked the young woman. Knowing well the sexual abuse made by the Doctor she had come out without treatments received and had cried in front of her husband relating the sad story. Once the story was related the husband of the young woman had complained to the Mawanella police who had commenced investigations and produced before the Mawanella Magistrate.
