Western Province PC Udaya Gammanpila says that UPFA would clinch an easy victory this time by beating the UNP at the forthcoming election and that the reason which contributed towards it was that though the powerful Parties who joined with 'Hansaya' at the beginning of 2015 have now abandoned the UNP this time. He says that he is in possession of a formula which he has arrived at after calculation and further makes mention that the 62 lakhs secured by 'Hansaya' on January 8th is no longer with the UNP and that there are reasons for that. According to his prediction this time the UNP would obtain a public opinion of 35 lakhs and that the UPFA would secure 71 lakhs. He explains how he had worked out this calculation, in the following manner:

"As the cygnets of TNA would disappear, 7 lakhs of votes would be lost. As the babies of the JVP too would disappear, another 5 lakhs of votes would be lost. As the cygnets of Field Marshal Mr. Fonseka would disappear, another 2 lakhs votes would disappear. Since President Maithripala Sirisena is with us, we'll get 3 lakhs of his votes and then the United National Party has 45 lakhs of votes; the People's Freedom Party 61 lakhs of votes. Together with the votes of those disappointed for having cast their vote for 'Hansaya' and with floating votes another 10 lakhs would be added to the United People's Freedom Alliance. Then the United People's Freedom Alliance will have 71 lakhs of votes; the United National Party 35 lakhs of votes. There won't be any increase in the voting foundation because the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress joins hands with the United National Party".
